Freedom of Movement
Gramicci was founded in 1982 by Californian freestyle climber Mike "Gramicci" Graham. Even as a teenager, Graham had a great passion for climbing and the landscapes of Yosemite National Park in his Californian homeland. As a pioneer of free solo mountaineering, which is characterized by speed and style, Graham often found the range of equipment and clothing in the late 1970s unsatisfactory and founded his own brand, Gramicci, in 1982 to provide himself and his friends with suitable equipment for climbing. In addition to classic climbing gear, Graham also developed special clothing that was intended to meet the athletes' requirements for practicality, durability and comfort.
Developed from shorts, Gramicci introduced the G-Pant in 1988. An innovative pair of pants made of cotton twill and sewn-in nylon belt, designed for extra freedom of movement and comfort, whether on the steep wall or in everyday life.
Celebrated not only by climbers, but also by other outdoor and lifestyle athletes, the young Californian brand is spreading. In the next few years, Gramicci expanded its range to include targeted products for cycling, trekking and hiking, but the skate and surf culture also took a liking to Gramicci's stylish creations and "freedom of movement". Today, Gramicci is considered a trailblazer for the ever-growing outdoor fashion market and a pioneer of designs and materials that are now an integral part of the industry.
We here in Hamburg at Waterkant value this pioneering spirit and are certain: whether you are a mountain sports enthusiast or a city hiker – Gramicci offers timeless, highly functional and wonderfully comfortable fashion for everyone who does not like to be restricted.
