Versatile minimalism with striking footwear
With the change of seasons, we also welcome a change in our wardrobes. The weather is getting warmer, and the thick winter parkas are going back into the closet until next winter. Layering is the magic word of the moment. For women, wider trouser silhouettes meet body-hugging tops, knitwear meets Gore-Tex, and suede meets pleats.
At Waterkant, we base our style inspiration primarily on three pillars: contemporary streetwear, Scandinavian minimalism, and techwear, or outdoor/functional clothing. Many of the following looks reflect these influences. Vintage jeans by Samsøe Samsøe, hiking-inspired shoes from Merrell, Keen's UNEEK sandals and rain jackets from Haglöfs bring performance elements, paired with pleated sets from Jan'n June or simple bomber jackets from Elvine and Clarks Wallabees bring effortless elegance.
The outfits can be assembled modularly, and all the pieces work together seamlessly. The color palette is based on basic tones like black, gray, beige, blue/navy, and olive green, but is then broken up by earthy, pastel, or bright colors, creamy off-white tones, sage, pink, and nautical blue and white stripes on short-sleeved knit tops. Interesting washes, textures, and the occasional embroideries offer the eye something to linger on without overwhelming, thus creating a consistent look. The clash of high-quality materials like suede or smooth leather versus performance nylon, bungee cord, or running mesh is both interesting to look at and also gives the outfit the features it needs in fast-paced urban life: style, comfort, weather resistance, and versatility.
